Javier Martínez was born in Ayegui (Navarra, Spain) on September 2nd of 1988. The Spanish footballer plays as a defensive midfielder or central defender for the German club FC Bayern Munich at the Bundesliga with number 8.
He started his professional career at the youth squads of Osasuna after playing for many regional teams. His debut in First Division was with Athletic Club Bilbao on August 27th 2006, when he was 17, against Real Sociedad. During 2011/2012 season he was UEFA Europa League and Spanish Cup “Copa del Rey” runner-up.
Spain National Team
With Spain National Team he is UEFA European Under-19 champion in 2007 and Under-21 in 2011, being the captain of the team. He also played with the National Team on 2012 Olympic Games in London. On May 29th 2010 he made his debut with Senior National Team at Trivoli Neu Stadium in Austria, with a win against Saudi Arabia. He is FIFA World Cup champion in 2010 and UEFA European champion in 2012.
With Bayern Munich he becomes champion of Bundesliga, Champions League, DFB Cup and FIFA Club World Cup during 2012-2013 season, closing an historical season for Bavarian club. In the next three seasons he becomes Bundesliga champion again. In season 2013-2014 and 2015-2016, he won DFB Cup once again, and in 2016, he becomes DFL champion, increasing his record with Bavarian club.
